As the old saying goes, 'if you cant beat 'em, join 'em'. And that's exactly what Floyd Mayweather appears to be doing about the defamation suit filed against him by Manny Pacquiao.
He recently filed a countersuit against Pacquiao, claiming, you guessed it, defamation. Specifically in response to a statement from Pacquiao regarding steroid use in the Mayweather camp.
Speaking to FanHouse several months ago, Pacquiao said:
'You know what, I don't even know what a steroid is. I've never done that. Maybe all of them, they're using the steroids, not me.
Which is certainly pretty tame compared to some of the things Mayweather's relatives were coming out with. It certainly doesn't compare to the A-side Meth tirades that Roger Mayweather came up with on several occasions
Either way though, it is now the basis for a countersuit from Mayweather, which might have been one of the chief reasons why Pacquiao now appears to have cancelled his own lawsuit.
Check out The Fight Lawyer for more details on the countersuit
It doesn't look to be much of a case, but then again Pacquiao's own case was said to be rather weak by several legal minds who have reviewed the case. Less trouble all around for both parties to drop both suits seemingly, given that a win for one might have validated the claims from the other.
Speaking to FightHype Jeff Mayweather opined that the suit had been dropped because there was no case to be made, and that both Paulie Malignaggi and Kermit Cintron had made accusations of steroid use on Pacquiao's part well before his nephew ever said anything.
Either way it appears that Pacquiaio's well publicised lawsuit is being dropped.

Mo Dewees, Pittsburgh: "The lawsuit was a bad idea from the start from Pacquiao, he never would have won anything anyway"
Chris Rollins, Greensburg: "Looks like it's Pac vs. Cotto again, and Floyd will be busy making a rap album. For the two best fighters in the world both of them are a disgrace, they won't fight each other and Pacquiao will only fight other Top Rank boys. Mayweather won't even fight
