Promoter Bob Arum said Manny Pacquiao will square off with Antonio Margarito for the vacant super welterweight title on Nov. 13, Yahoo! Sports reported.
If the fight comes off, it will snuff out any hope of a much-anticipated fight between Pacquiao and unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., whom Arum claims did not respond to an agreed-upon deadline. Mayweather's camp denies those charges.
One obstacle for a Pacquiao-Margarito bout will be Margarito's ability to get licensed. The California State Athletic Commission revoked his license after illegal plaster inserts were discovered in his gloves prior to a fight against Shane Mosley in January 2009.
Arum said the fight will be held in Las Vegas if Margarito can get licensed. Otherwise, the bout will be held in Monterrey, Mexico.
