Floyd Mayweather Jr. has until midnight, Friday, July 16, as the deadline for Team Mayweather’s representatives to make a decision to either fight Manny Pacquiao or not. The fight date is set for Saturday, November 13th. Bob Arum said he will wait until midnight Pacific Time Friday.
Bob Arum went as far as placing a countdown clock on his TopRank website ticking away until the deadline. Don’t be shocked if Floyd Mayweather doesn’t respond.
Time is ticking Fo' Shizzle my Nizzle, YAAAAAAA BOIIIII!!
Like I said on my previous article, Floyd Mayweather will not fight Manny Pacquiao without his uncle-trainer Roger (Roger has a pending felony assault trial set to begin August 2 in Las Vegas). He is not going to make a decision before knowing where Roger stands.
“I don’t blame Floyd because I know that Manny would not want to fight without having Freddie Roach in his corner,” Arum said.
Rumor is that Manny Pacquiao will be facing Antonio Margarito in Monterrey, Mexico, or in a Middle Eastern country if Mayweather doesn’t respond.
Though there has also been talks about a rematch with Miguel Cotto, Bob Arum conceded that his preference is Margarito rather than Cotto.
“I have to look at what sells and yes, Cotto has Emmanuel Steward now and a second bout with Manny would be at 154 pounds but the Margarito fight is the more saleable bout in my view,” Arum sa
