Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fight: Wishful Thinking Or Reality

According to many boxing insiders, the eagerly awaited Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. mega-bout between top two best pound for pound fighters in the world, is unlikely to happen ever in future. Boxing historian Bert Sugar told the Examiner that American pugilist Mayweather Jr. is not scared of the Filipino boxing sensation but is more scared to lose because Mayweather is still unbeaten so far and is willing to remain like this.

Mayweather uses the no losses reason to put himself above legendary boxers like Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard. So all you Pacquiao vs Mayweather enthusuiasts, you might be in for disappointment.

Trainer Yoel Judah told Boxing insider also echoed similar feelings saying the super-fight will never happen. Judah, who is currently training his son Zab Judah for his upcoming “Friday Night Fights” ESPN July 16 show, added that if the fight happens, then Pacquiao would defeat Mayweather.

There are two main reasons which had stalled the fight. One reason is Mayweather’s call for the random blood testing and Pacquiao’s refusal to do so and the second issue is related to the financial purse split afforded to each fighter. Mayweather is calling for a 60:40 purse, which seems a little unreasonable because Pacquiao is no lesser a star than Mayweather. His pay-per-view bout against Joshua Clottey was superb in terms of revenues as it had attracted 700-thousand buys. A total of 51,000 tickets were sold at 100-thousand seat Cowboys stadium in Texas.

Some experts however, claim that Mayweather have the recent pay-per-view numbers on his side and he should get more money than Pacquiao. The best solution in this case would be that the fighters agree a 50/50 split. Another thing which the boxers could do is that they reach a common ground that the winner of the fight gets 60 and the loser walks home with 40 percent.
