Manny Pacquiao v Floyd Mayweather Jr

It looks as though the world will have to wait a little longer to see the fight that all boxing fans want to see. Floyd Mayweather has failed to respond to yesterday’s deadline set by Manny Pacquiao’s camp and it is expected that the Filipino will look for another opponent for his forthcoming title defence.

A November 13 date had been set to one side for a £50million megabucks fight in Las Vegas but Mayweather’s silence means that the fight is almost certain not to go ahead this year.

Pacquaio’s promoter did leave the door slightly ajar for Mayweather when stating “Floyd didn’t want to commit. It’s dead when we conclude a deal with an opponent for Manny’s November fight, then he’ll try to fight Floyd next year.” Which suggests that if the American were to have a change of heart before another fight is arranged then it could still be possible to thrash out a deal.

Despite no fight being arranged bookmakers are still offering odds on the outcome, with all bets being refunded if the fight doesn’t go ahead this year. Ladbrokes make Mayweather the 8/11 with Pacquiao an 11/10 chance and the draw at 16/1.
