Floyd Mayweather Jr. beats out Manny Pacquiao and GSP for 2010 ESPY Fighter of the Year award

July 14, 2010 - The 18th annual ESPN ESPY awards went down tonight at the Nokia theater in downtown Los Angeles. As usual, the biggest sports celebrities converged in the most prestigious sports awards show.

From athletes like USA soccer her Landon Donovan, driver Danica Patrick, NFL quarterback Brett Favre to actors like Mark Wahlberg and the beautiful Emmanuelle Chriqui, the stars came out to celebrate a year of sporting excellence.

As far as 2010's Best Fighter award, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was honored as ESPN's 2010 Fighter of the Year for his victories over Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley beating out fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao and UFC welterweight champion George St. Pierre.

The previous 3 awards were split between boxers Pacquiao and Mayweather with Pacquiao winning it in 2009 and Mayweather in 2007 and 2008.

Other award winners are as follows:

Best Team - New Orleans Saints, NFL

Best Male Athlete - Drew Brees, NFL Saints

Best Female Athlete - Lindsey Vonn, Skiing

Best Coach - Phil Jackson, Lakers NBA

Jim Valvano award for Perseverance - George Karl, Nuggets NBA
