In a July 9 article in the Phillipine Daily Inquirer, boxer turned congressman, Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao, downplayed the importance of being an elected official.
Pacquiao told the paper that his "dream is to become a good public servant and a good leader of Sarangani."
I think the truth is, he's bored to his wits, wishing he was in the ring instead of behind a desk pretending to understand local politics.
Pacquiao said he wants to join committees on sports and energy.
Once he returns to the sport of boxing, he'll need all the energy and strength he can get to take on Floyd Mayweather.
The Pac-Man hinted to the paper that the blockbuster fight is close to taking place.
"They're just ironing out some things in the contract," he said to the Daily Inquirer.
Ah man, I can't wait!
I think the two sides should hurry up and get this done.
According to Pacquiao, being an elected official is putting a strain on his pocket.
Even though he's dipping into his office budget to pay himself, there are dreams of a bigger payday looming.
And after he gets knocked out by Mayweather (my prediction), the Pac-Man will see stars when he's on the canvas, dreaming that he never should've challenged "Money."
People call Pacquiao the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
There's no freakin' way he's the best PFP fighter in the world!
And all the boxing fans who think the Pac-Man is the best PFP fighter in the world better stop dreaming.
In my opinion, Mayweather is the best PFP fighter in the world.
He's never lost a fight in his career, and I don't see him losing this one.
For now, Pacquiao will try to attend every congressional session to pretend he knows a thing or two about government.
Once his management team rings the bell, Pacquiao will be ready to train. It must be tough for a boxer to balance a political job at the same time.
According to Pacquiao, the Mayweather brawl will be his last fight.
I believe it, after "Money" knocks him right back across the ocean to Manila.
Pac-Man won't have to pull lint out of his pockets after he makes a killing fighting Mayweather.
By the way, who manages his money anyway?
When HBO is ready to air the "Mayweather/Pacquiao 24/7" series, I'll be glued to my TV, taking in every moment.
If the wife has some errands for me to run that day, it ain't happening!
If this is truly Pacquiao's last fight, as he told the Manila paper, my prayer (yes, I'm a little religious) is that Mayweather gives him the proper sendoff.
But tell the Pac-Man to leave the family at home because it won't be a pretty sight on his part.
