Boxing Odds on Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao

Currently many sites have boxing odds on the fight, but have no date assigned to the bout. The simple truth is, that with Mayweather always requesting a drug test, and Pacuiao always saying he doesn’t have to give one, the argument could go on indefinitely.

It must be noted that although the sportsbooks have boxing odds on the two, boxing betting action will only be honoured if the fight happens in 2010. If it does not, then all sportsbooks, online and land based, must cancel all wagers.

So why such a big hype up over something that may never happen? It could be that the Pay Per View rights alone could generate over 2 million buys, and at $45 and up per fight, it is easy to see over $100 million coming in for just one fight.

With a fight in Vegas, both parties have done quite well in terms of wins; however a better location might be the Dallas Cowboys stadium. That way the average Joe could finally afford to witness what might just be a historical moment in time. At the Clottey-Pacquiao bout, boxing betting fans paid $35 for standing room all the way up to $700 for ringside.

That made quite a pretty penny for organizers, especially in light of the 50,994 who attended the event. If the average cost of tickets for even half of the fans was more than $50, we can expect that then event generated almost 5 million dollars in ticket sales.

So are we waiting for Mayweather Jr. to stop being such a loud mouth, spouting out worlds like steroids and urine tests? Not likely, since that brash, brazen mouth of his actually generates more interest in the bout, and in the end, will help to push more PPV purchases, resulting in more money for him and Pacquiao.

That would mean both win, but not with the boxing odds; financially.

Floyd Mayweather Jr -140
Manny Pacquiao +110
